Meghan Markle’s emotional moment as princess caught on camera

Meghan Markle’s touching concern for royal attendees during a rainstorm in 2018 has become the subject of a new viral video, after footage from the duchess’s first major tour after her wedding to Prince Harry resurfaced on TikTok.

Meghan married Harry in an elaborate ceremony at St. George’s Chapel near Windsor Castle in Berkshire, England, in May 2018. She served as a senior royal until March 2020, when the couple split from the monarchy and moved to the United States.

During her time as a member of the royal family, Meghan has made several overseas visits with her husband, representing the British government and Queen Elizabeth II. The most significant of these was in October 2018, when the couple embarked on a tour of the South Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand.

The tour coincided with the 2018 Invictus Games, the veterans’ sporting event led by Harry, which was held in Sydney, Australia, that year.

During their visits to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, Harry and Meghan met with the prime ministers of the countries concerned, as well as a wide cross-section of their populations at charity and official events.

In New Zealand, the couple visited an area of bushland near Auckland that had been dedicated to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, a conservation project aimed at protecting wildlife and the environment in Commonwealth states in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.

During the visit, a rainstorm occurred and a touching moment of Meghan was caught on camera.

Uploaded to TikTok by user @1961imhumanitarian1997 on June 20, footage of the Duchess expressing concern for those attending the event during the downpour was captured by the press corps covering the tour.

Captioned “Meghan Markle wants umbrellas for kids in the rain,” the video has been viewed more than 113,000 times so far and has garnered over 4,100 likes and numerous comments, many of which praised the royal.

“I love her so much,” one user wrote, while another added: “Lovely Meghan.”

The couple’s tour of the South Pacific was widely considered a success in Britain, with the couple drawing large crowds and benefiting from positive publicity. However, in their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry said the trip marked a turning point in his relationship with his family.

“My dad, my brother, Kate and all the rest of the family were really welcoming,” the prince said of his family’s reaction to Meghan’s arrival. “But it really changed after the tour of Australia, after our tour of the South Pacific.”

“That’s when we announced we were pregnant with Archie. It was our first tour,” Meghan said, to which Harry replied: “But it was also the first time the family got to see how incredible she was at this job. And it brought back memories (of Princess Diana).”

Since their split from the monarchy in 2020, Harry and Meghan have continued to travel abroad to attend philanthropic events.

In May, the couple made a three-day visit to Nigeria to attend events related to the Invictus Games and the couple’s Archewell Foundation.
