‘Genuinely shocked’ football fans outraged at exorbitant ticket prices for family of four after US national football team’s Copa America exit

ARROWHEAD Stadium was far from full as the USMNT was eliminated from the Copa America.

Only 55,460 people were present in the arena, which has a capacity of 76,400 for the tournament.

Angry football fans have blamed the problem on exorbitant ticket prices.

Photos are circulating on social media showing thousands of empty seats in the upper sections of the stadium.

“This is what happens when it costs a family of four $500 to watch the game in the worst seats in the stadium,” one fan commented.

“I was really shocked to see that the admission price was still well over $90 with fees (plus parking on top),” another added. “It’s a shame because Missouri markets deserve better than that.”

“You shouldn’t be shocked. It’s been like this for several years. People are being evicted,” suggested a third.

“Amen. Accessibility should be a top priority for the 2026 World Cup,” commented a fourth.

The United States will co-host the World Cup with Mexico and Canada in two years.

But things will have to take a big step forward on the ground to avoid further humiliation.

After beating Bolivia, the Stars and Stripes lost to Panama and Uruguay and were eliminated in the group stage.

USMNT icon Alexi Lalas thinks it’s time for a head coach change.

Gregg Berhalter is fighting to stay in charge of the team for the World Cup.

“As far as Gregg Berhalter goes, I know it’s a sport to fire coaches in all professional sports, and I know the knives are out, and they should be, because this is not good enough from Gregg Berhalter,” Lalas said on Fox Sports.

“And you have to ask yourself, with 2026 coming up, it’s going to happen very quickly, we can’t afford to waste it, we can’t afford to be embarrassed, we can’t afford to get to the summer of 2026 with a team that hasn’t progressed, hasn’t evolved and hasn’t improved.

“I’m sure if Gregg Berhalter were here, he’d say, ‘Oh, but you don’t see what’s going on inside.'”

“I don’t care what’s going on inside.

We’re not going to leave anything out.

“I don’t care about the dynamic, I don’t care about how much your players love you, I don’t care about how it is, all I care about is seeing a better U.S. men’s national team than we’ve had before, and we haven’t seen that, and that’s a problem going forward.”

Berhalter insisted after the game that he was still the right man for the job.

“It’s not up to me,” he said when asked about his future.

“We know that I think when you’re in a football tournament there’s very little that separates success from failure.

“And you know, it’s an action, a decision by the referee and you could get in trouble.

“For us, it’s about understanding that every time we step on the field, it has an impact.

“I think we’re getting there, but we’re not always getting there, and that’s something we can improve on.

“So we’re going to look at everything I think, you know, we’re not going to leave anything out.

“I don’t think this is someone who says, ‘OK, you know, this program is doomed.’

“That’s not the case at all, it was a bad performance, we didn’t get the results we expected and we have to improve.”
