Alligator Caught on Camera Hiding Under Publix Carts: Watch

A viral video shows an alligator recently spotted hiding under a set of shopping carts outside a supermarket in South Carolina.

The reptile made its home under metal carts in the town of Summerville, Dorchester County, about 25 miles northwest of Charleston.

“This is all happening right now at Publix,” said Lisa Royal, who captured a photo of the alligator in the video taken last week. “There’s a gator under the carts outside.”

Footage obtained by USA TODAY shows the alligator resting under the caution tape, with some taking photos of the reptile.

“It was so incredible and out of this world that I had to stop and document the moment!” Royal told WFLA-TV.

‘He just needs bread and milk’: Facebook users speak out on alligator sighting

The video, posted on Facebook, has attracted many comments.

“He just needs bread and milk,” one user wrote in the comments section below the video.

“This is a little thing that wouldn’t stop me from shopping, my goodness guys it’s three feet and I’m more scared of you than you are of me,” another person posted.

“Poor little guy, he doesn’t know where to go,” someone else wrote.

It was not immediately clear what happened to the alligator.
