Geeks Who Drink Launches New Music-Inspired Bingo Game; Find an Event Near You

If bingo is more your thing than trivia, then Geeks Who Drink’s new game with a musical twist might be just the ticket.

The live entertainment company recently announced the addition of Boombox Bingo to its list of game night options at bars and restaurants across the United States, including several Texas cities. But this isn’t your grandmother’s typical version of bingo.

For Geeks Who Drink’s Boombox Bingo, players will strive to win various prizes by successfully completing certain patterns on their digital bingo cards. Rather than stamping numbers on a bingo card, players will mark song titles from a bingo card on their phone while playing each track along the way.

Each Boombox Bingo game night will have a hilarious host (known as the event’s quizmaster) and a unique theme. Similar to Geeks Who Drink Trivia, Boombox Bingo is played on your phone. Once you find a bar or restaurant near you that hosts Boombox Bingo, you’ll be able to retrieve the player code for the location from the on-site quizmaster, allowing you to join the game.

Since your bingo card will be digital, it will be easier to correct your mistakes, like when you accidentally marked the wrong song in a moment of overconfidence. In true Geeks Who Drink fashion, Boombox Bingo categories will definitely be anything but generic and mundane.

“We’re bringing that good Geeks Who Drink energy to the table by splitting each game into two ‘sides’ with a common theme,” Geeks Who Drink editor-in-chief Eric Keihl said in an announcement about Boombox Bingo. “So you might get something like ‘Only ’90s Kids Will Get This,’ split into one playlist full of ’90s hits and another full of songs recorded before the artist turned 22. Or ‘Déjà Vu’ — two playlists with the same 75-track set… but totally different songs. These themes will allow us to span the entire map in terms of time, genre, and mainstream-itude.”

In addition to what the company calls its standard “poly-jam-orous” playlists, there will also be themed Boombox Bingo nights, like a Taylor Swift party or a Pride night with a playlist full of LGBTQ+ anthems.
