Actress Priscilla Shirer has explained the biblical message she discovered while watching Inside Out 2 with her family.

“There’s this scene where Joy looks Anxiety in the face and says, ‘Let her go.’ I’m just saying I felt something in my spirit at that exact moment… I’m saying maybe the spirit of the living God was in that line,” Shirer said in an Instagram post about the film.

“Joy says to anxiety, ‘Let it go.’ I say the joy of the Lord is your strength. I say the Scripture says, ‘Be anxious for nothing, but for everything’ – hey, I feel it in my spirit. INSIDE OUT (2) has an anointing on it,” she continued.

Shirer’s enthusiasm for the film was felt by millions. The film’s positive, uplifting message, which breaks free from the liberal agenda that has plagued Disney and Pixar films for years, propelled Inside Out 2 to the top of the year’s movie charts.

“The success of Inside Out 2 is compelling evidence that Movieguide®’s advocacy work is having an impact at Disney,” said Robby Baehr, CEO of Movieguide®. “This is the first film Pixar has released in years that doesn’t flaunt an immoral agenda. After about two weeks in theaters, Inside Out 2 has grossed $469 million at the domestic box office, while also crossing the $1 billion mark at the global box office — the first film to do so since BARBIE was released last summer.

The film’s massive success suggests a strong box office showing in the second half of the year, with several big family films slated for release between now and December. DESPICABLE ME 4, for example, will be released before the Fourth of July weekend, right after INSIDE OUT 2. The previous film in the franchise, MINIONS RISE OF GRU, grossed just under $1 billion worldwide in 2022, a year that was further hampered by the pandemic.

Other family films looking to hold down the box office include MOANA 2, HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON, THE WILD ROBOT and SONIC 3.
