Export experts meet with Kansas businesses during statewide tour

TOPEKA (KSNT) – State leaders are announcing the start of an upcoming series of conferences aimed at showcasing international export opportunities to Kansas businesses.

The Kansas Department of Commerce (KDC) International Division unveiled plans Tuesday, July 2, for the Kansas Exporters Roundtable Series. It will be a monthly series beginning in July and will take KDC staff to 12 cities across the Sunflower State to offer advice to small and medium-sized businesses.

“When considering whether or not to export, think of it as a way to expand your business’s exposure to the world,” said Lt. Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland. “Exporting can significantly expand your customer base, which translates directly into increased sales and profits.”

This monthly series is organized in collaboration with the US Commercial Service and the Small Business Administration (SBA). Both groups will have representatives who will present on export-related topics such as:

  • How exporting can increase turnover.
  • Information on financial assistance for export.
  • Export success stories or unique lessons.

“Because of our central location, available transportation and intermodal services, Kansas is an ideal state for manufacturing many high-quality products and services,” said Laura Lombard, director of the International Division. “The International team is staffed with top-notch personnel and extensive resources to help companies grow their sales and increase their exports. I encourage you to attend one of the roundtables and see how the Department of Commerce can help you and your business.”
