“A huge shock” – Cameron Rogers beats Filippo Ganna to win Tour of Austria prologue

Australian 19-year-old Cameron Rogers (Lidl-Trek Future) sat in the hot seat during the 2.1-ranked Tour of Austria prologue, expecting to relinquish first place as two-time time trial world champion and five-time Italian champion Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) charged towards the line.

But when the clock stopped, Rogers had won by a full second. The nephew of retired three-time time trial world champion Michael Rogers had claimed his first victory in a UCI-ranked elite race on the 3km course in the centre of St. Pölten, the capital of Lower Austria.
