St. LUCIA

– Following the passage of Hurricane Beryl, CPMC has announced the cancellation of the inaugural D’Vibes show, Dennery Segment, originally scheduled for tomorrow, July 3, at Fond D’Or Dennery.

CPMC President Tamara Gibson said: “As part of our preparation for Hurricane Beryl, we have dismantled and secured all infrastructure at Fond D’Or and SAB, Vigie. The anticipated wind levels would have resulted in damage to the infrastructure and it is likely that it will also become a safety hazard. Despite working with a highly experienced team of contractors, one day is simply not enough time for our team to assess the damage, reinstall the infrastructure and deliver the safe, high-quality event that our clients have come to expect. As a result, we have been forced to make the decision to cancel Wednesday’s D’Vibes.”

D’Vibes was set to kick off a busy week of activities, followed by the Inter-Commercial Calypso on Thursday 4 July, Soca Monarch on Friday 5 July, Calypso Monarch on Saturday 6 July, Kiddies Carnival and Panorama on Sunday 7 July, and the King and Queen of the Bands on Monday 8 July.

Gibson said: “The status of other upcoming shows will be announced at a later date as we continue to discuss with authorities, our vendors, artists, etc. throughout the day. We are also aware of the upcoming weather system and are closely monitoring the situation. While we look forward to continuing to run our competitions and events, the safety and well-being of our participants, artists, and crew is our highest priority, so we will provide updates as they become available. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Hurricane Beryl, and we urge everyone to stay safe and heed the advice of local authorities during this time.”

Gibson noted that despite the cancellation of D’Vibes, CPMC will ensure patrons have the opportunity to see their favorite Dennery Segment acts throughout the Carnival season.

Those who purchased tickets for D’Vibes are asked to stay tuned to the official Carnival of Lucia platforms for information regarding refunds.
