Throughout Maury County, there will be plenty of family-friendly opportunities to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.

For those wanting a more physical approach, the town of Spring Hill is partnering with The Well Outreach for its annual July 4th Run Against Hunger.

Participants can join the fun at Summit High School starting at 6 a.m., with the 5K race beginning at 7 a.m. A colorful foam run will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a bike/stroller parade at 9 a.m. for ages 10 and under.

While there is a fee to participate, all proceeds will benefit The Well Outreach and its mission to provide food to those in need. Visit www.thewelloutreach.org for more information on Run For Hunger.

• In Columbia, the Breakfast Rotary Club, Noon Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club will jointly host their 10th annual July 4th celebration at the Kiwanis Shelter located in Maury County Park.

The tribute ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. and the children’s bike parade will follow at 9:15 a.m. Three local citizens will receive a Great American Service Above Self Award as part of the festivities.

Free drinks and snacks will also be offered to children, who will also be invited to take part in other activities such as face painting and caricatures.

• The Maury County Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual fireworks show starting at 9 p.m. at Maury County Park. The show is expected to last approximately 20 minutes and is a professional show hosted from the top of Monsanto Hill to celebrate Independence Day.

• Mount Pleasant will host its own festivities on July 4th in celebration of the city’s 200th anniversary. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., attendees will enjoy an unforgettable evening filled with dazzling performances, live music, delicious food and patriotic spirit on Mount Pleasant Square.
