Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt touted as 2024 X-factor

The Cincinnati Bengals have a lot of things that could be classified as X-factors in 2024.

One key area of defense that seems to get overlooked in these kinds of conversations, however, is cornerback.

There, Dax Hill joined the fray on the boundary in front of Cam Taylor-Britt. It’s a situation that was recently highlighted by ESPN’s Seth Walder:

Cornerbacks Cam Taylor-Britt and DJ Turner II. They allowed 2.0 and 1.7 yards per coverage snap last season, according to NFL Next Gen Stats, the second and eighth-most, respectively, among outside CBs with at least 300 coverage snaps. With Chidobe Awuzie leaving in free agency, those two young DBs will have to step up.

Heading into his second year, Turner’s job is under threat with Hill’s arrival as a safety and the fact that he’s already had plenty of work with the starters this spring.

And when it comes to Taylor-Britt, while he obviously has huge No. 1 potential, he only played 12 games and 86 percent of the snaps last year, so his ability to stay healthy will be key.

A better offensive attack will also help the secondary. But the trio of corners on the edge will need to hold up better and stay on the field in 2024 for Lou Anarumo’s unit to have the best chance of reaching near-elite heights again.
