After years of effort, IndyCar is set to unveil its hybrid engine system this weekend in Ohio

INDIANAPOLIS — IndyCar will unveil its hybrid engine system this weekend at Mid-Ohio Raceway. It’s a joint effort between IndyCar and engineers from Chevrolet and Honda, the series’ two engine suppliers. Each took charge of a different element of the hybrid system to be developed. The system has undergone extensive testing, and IndyCar is confident in its product. Drivers will have to learn to deploy quick, powerful bursts of energy that provide about 120 additional horsepower, pushing IndyCar’s engine total to more than 800 for the first time in decades.
