55-year-old man allegedly arrested with gun in idling luxury car on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Authorities allege a 55-year-old man was arrested with a gun while his luxury car was idling in Stapleton.

The episode began when Lawrence Myers of Webster Avenue in New Brighton was sitting behind the wheel of a white 2009 Mercedes-Benz that was parked with the engine running at Dock and Bay streets on June 23 around 8 p.m., according to the criminal complaint and police.

Police found a black and silver 9 mm pistol on the suspect’s person, according to the complaint.

A high-capacity feeder containing 11 rounds of the same caliber as the gun was found in the trunk by officers near the 120th Precinct station in St. George, according to the complaint.

Myers was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of an ammunition feeding device.

Myers is scheduled to appear in state Supreme Court in St. George on Wednesday. His plea and the name of his attorney are not listed in public records.

The gun seizure was one of several separate arrests announced by the NYPD’s 120th Precinct on X, formerly known as Twitter.
