Kentucky State Police (KSP) have announced a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person or persons responsible for a murder in Marshall County last week.

The reward is part of KSP Mayfield Post’s ongoing investigation into the death of Jesse Moore, 44, of Benton.

KSP said they received a call around 8:30 p.m. on June 27 from the U.S. Forest Service regarding an abandoned vehicle discovered in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Officers were asked to conduct a welfare check on the individual who was known to regularly drive the vehicle, namely Moore.

Officers responded to a residence in the Possum Trot neighborhood of Marshall County in an attempt to contact Moore. When they arrived at the residence, they found a deceased man who appeared to have been shot.

An autopsy was performed on June 29 and confirmed the suspect’s identity as Jesse Moore. Foul play is suspected and the investigation is ongoing, led by detectives from Precinct 1.

Anyone with information regarding the death of Jesse Moore is asked to call KSP Post 1 at 270-856-3721. Information can also be provided anonymously through West Kentucky Crime Stoppers by texting WKY to 738477. You will be directed to an anonymous reporting form.
