Discussions held to consider future of Summerland IOOF Hall

Summerland’s IOOF Hall on Main Street was purchased in 1935 and has served as a community centre for many Summerland events since that time.

However, in recent years he has become less active.

The Odd Fellows Lodges were founded in the United Kingdom in 1730 and are founded on the principles of friendship, love and truth. The parent body, the Grand Lodge of British Columbia, is located in Victoria.

The provincial grand lodge has set up a committee to revitalize the building and restore its role as a centre for community activities.

The new committee is made up of members from the municipality, school district, chamber of commerce and others.

The first meeting took place on June 28th and consisted of brainstorming potential ideas that could be considered for the building.

Anyone with ideas about the use of the building is asked to contact David Gregory at [email protected].
