ALERT: Residents receiving fake text messages claiming to be from Elections

Fake text messages claiming to be from Cobb Elections trick voters into requesting mail-in ballots
Cobb Elections not communicating with voters via text messages

Marietta, GA – Multiple people have contacted the Cobb Elections Department, claiming to have received text messages asking them to request an absentee ballot. The text messages appear to come from a Cobb Elections phone number and direct recipients to the Secretary of State’s absentee ballot request page.

Although the link is legitimate, the text messages are NOT from Cobb Elections, and the phone number is a scam. Cobb County Elections does not currently send unsolicited voting information via text message.

The incident has been reported to the state and Cobb Information Technology Services (ITS) and others are investigating.
