Shocked Victoria residents see huge ball of light streak across sky

The Victorians were shocked to see a huge ball of light, believed to be a meteor, streak across the sky at night.

Many people rushed to social media as soon as they saw the sight around 9pm on Wednesday, claiming it was “huge” with a “blue and orange tail”.

“I saw it. I came to check that I wasn’t hallucinating! It was HUGE!!!” said one resident.

Another wrote: “I have never seen anything like it!”

Residents of Clayton, Brunswick, Mulgrave, Eltham, Chirnside Park, Donnybrook, Berwick, Keilor, Malvern, Box Hill, Deer Park, Williamstown, Maryborough and Ballarat have all reported seeing him.

“We were walking in East Ringwood and it felt like the sun was passing right in front of us, it was so close – it looked green! We couldn’t believe it!” one person wrote on Instagram.

The ball of light is believed to have been a meteor, but this has not yet been confirmed by an expert.
