The four projects, worth a total of $68 million, were approved by the university’s board of directors in May 2023No tuition fees or state money are used for these projects.

Details on the soccer operations center and multi-sport training bubble, both of which will be built near Jeffrey Field, can be found here here.

Here’s a look at what’s planned for the Greenberg Complex and East Zone locker rooms.

GREENBERG SPORTS COMPLEX — TRAINING TABLE AND WELLNESS CENTER

The $31 million project will renovate the building to include an athletic training table and a wellness and training center for Penn State’s 31 varsity teams.

“The space, adjacent to the Morgan Academic Center, will provide a hub for more than 800 student-athletes to meet their academic, nutritional and wellness needs in a central location on campus,” according to a news release issued when the projects were approved in 2023.

The training table menus will be designed by the athletic department’s nutrition staff and the renovations will provide a space for athletes from all 31 teams to interact. The athletic training and wellness center will offer medical, rehabilitation and nutrition services. The nutrition area will provide items to help athletes fuel after workouts and practices.

EAST ZONE LOCKER ROOM

A $5.2 million renovation of the East End locker room, located across from Greenberg, will improve the athletic performance area, refreshment stations, satellite athletic training area, offices and the IT suite.

Additional equipment and increased space in the sports performance area will support the 16 teams that use the facility for strength training, and refreshment stations will provide athletes with items to aid recovery after training, strength training and competition.
