Israeli Army Announces Death of Soldier Elay Elisha Lugasi in Israel-Hamas War

Captain Elay Elisha Lugasi, 21, from Kiryat Shmona, a team commander of the 75th Battalion and the 7th Brigade, was killed during combat in the northern Gaza Strip, the Israeli army said Wednesday night.

On Wednesday, terrorists fired anti-tank missiles at an IDF tank in the northern Gaza Strip, killing Captain Lugasi and wounding three other soldiers from the 75th Battalion and the 7th Brigade.

The soldiers were evacuated to receive medical treatment at the hospital, and their families were notified.

Paying tribute to the missing

Kiryat Shmona Mayor Avichai Stern paid tribute to him, saying: “Elay, a hero of Israel, was wounded at the beginning of the war, and after several weeks of convalescing at home, he insisted on returning and fighting as soon as he was back on his feet.”

Also on Wednesday, it was announced that Sergeant (Sgt) Aleksandr Iakiminskyi, 19, from Nahariya, a driver with the 71st Battalion, 188th Brigade, was killed in a knife attack in Karmiel while off-duty.

Another soldier from the 71st Battalion of the 188th Brigade was seriously injured in the attack. He was the first to be attacked.

Sergeant Iakiminskyi was armed when his friend was attacked, he disarmed the terrorist and shot him. During this operation he was also stabbed.
