Takeuchi Crawler Dump Truck Now Available in North America

Previously available in other parts of the world, Takeuchi’s TCR50-2 crawler dumper is now available to the company’s North American customers.

“The crawler dumper market is growing as demand for these machines in construction, mining and infrastructure applications increases,” said Lee Padgett, product manager for Takeuchi-US. “Urbanization here in North America has led to an increased need for these agile machines that can haul heavy loads over unstable or rough terrain, often in confined spaces. The TCR50-2 can do all that and more.”

The TCR50-2 weighs 14,440 lbs. and is powered by a Tier 4 compliant Yanmar 4TNV94FHT diesel engine with 186 cu. in. displacement and a DOC+DPF+SCR aftertreatment system. The engine produces 118 hp and offers a maximum torque of 302 ft. lbs. The two-speed transmission with automatic shifting allows travel speeds up to 5.9 mph and gradeability of 30°.

The tracked dumper has a 65° dump angle and a maximum loading weight of 8,157 lbs., allowing it to haul up to 2.7 cubic yards of material while rotating and dumping in a single cycle. The 180° body rotation eliminates the need to continually reposition the machine and reduces wear on the track system. The bogie-type undercarriage includes dual-flanged track rollers, a high-torque planetary final drive and 18-inch rubber tracks, providing a ground pressure of 3.9 psi empty or 6.1 psi with the body fully loaded.

The TCR50-2’s ROPS/FOPS operator station includes an intuitive 5.7-inch multi-information color display with standard 180° rearview camera, hydraulic joystick controls, adjustable suspension seat, air conditioning, radio with USB functionality and a large cup holder. LED work lights, a tinted sun visor and a cab window with rear wiper and window vents provide enhanced visibility. For added safety, a customizable travel alarm can be set to sound in both forward and reverse gears or only when the unit is put into reverse.

Wide-opening maintenance covers provide easy access to the engine and routine inspection points. Optimally positioned running boards and handlebars provide stable access to maintenance areas located on top of the machine.

Takeuchi’s Telematics Fleet Management (TFM) system is standard on the TCR50-2. It provides information on machine status and health, run time (hours) and machine location, as well as remote diagnostics, scheduled maintenance reminders and customizable alert settings. It also offers geofencing capabilities.
