Zac Efron has opened up about the accident that broke his jaw and sent fans into a panic over his “extreme new face.”

The actor is currently promoting his new film A family matter leading the internet to speculate about how much his face has changed in recent years.

There’s no doubt that there has been a physical change in Efron’s appearance, but he wants to make it clear that it wasn’t a choice.

Zac Efron’s 2021 facial transformation was caused by him ‘breaking’ his jaw running around the house in socks.

In a 2022 interview with Men’s Health, the actor revealed the real reason his jawline looks so different.

He spoke of a terrifying accident he had in his own home where he slipped in a puddle and smashed his chin against a granite fountain.

He remembers losing consciousness and waking up to find his chin “hanging” from his face.

Zac explained how the masseter muscles inside his face and jaw “compensated” for his injury and grew larger, causing the shape of his jaw to change.

“The masseters just grew. They got really, really big,” he explained.
