Zion National Park Ranger Sends Message to Annoying People Hiking With Loudspeakers

This message is for all those shameless idiots who think that blaring music in our national parks is a victimless crime. Kudos to this Zion National Park ranger who is being celebrated on social media for her concise message to visitors who roam the pristine environments of national parks listening to their music through Bluetooth speakers. The message is simple. “NOBODY WANTS TO LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC”If you have to listen to music, we recommend wearing headphones, but the ideal is to simply enjoy the natural soundscapes offered by the most beautiful places in our country.

Although I was unable to find any official National Park Service regulations regarding hiking with speakers, there is an NPS Soundscape Management Policy that states:

“The Service will take steps to prevent or minimize any noise that, by its frequency, magnitude, or duration, adversely affects the natural soundscape or other park resources or values, or that exceeds levels that have been identified as acceptable or appropriate for visitor uses at monitored sites.”

Hi friends, let’s be respectful of wildlife and other visitors while enjoying our national parks, just leave the speakers at home.
