Silent 911 call leads to body found in Pagosa Springs

(PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo.) — A 911 call in Archuleta County led deputies to the discovery of a woman’s body in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 2.

According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) officers responded to a 911 call that was left open around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday. The call came from the 1000 block of County Road 700, about 8 miles west of Pagosa Springs.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the body of a 39-year-old woman. The victim had sustained gunshot injuries in an apparent homicide, the CBI said.

The scene was immediately secured, but no suspects have been arrested. ACSO has requested assistance from the CBI, which will be the lead investigating agency in the case. No information on the suspect was available as of Tuesday afternoon.

The coroner will determine the official cause and circumstances of the woman’s death.
