Travis Kelce’s Eras Tour Dance Was Inspired by Jim Carrey’s ‘Dumb and Dumber’

Travis Kelce took his Eras Tour debut so seriously that he turned to tap dancer extraordinaire Lloyd Christmas for inspiration.

During the July 3 episode of his New heights In a podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs star opened up about performing in London on June 23 at Wembley Stadium. Beyond the excitement of making their relationship official as part of the stadium tour, the performance gave Kelce the opportunity to try out a dance move he’s been obsessed with for years.

“It’s such a fun, playful part of the show. It was the perfect time for me to go up there and have some fun,” he told co-host Jason Kelce. “I’ve always wanted to pull that move out, but I never knew when I was going to pull it out. And it was the perfect time for me to go up there and have some fun,” he told co-host Jason Kelce. Dumb and even dumber (move), with Jim Carrey, he tap dances. It’s one of my favorite moves of all time.

Kelce joined Swift on stage during the Department of Tortured Poets Kelce donned a tuxedo and top hat for the concert, pretended to powder Swift’s face and, at one point, carried her across the stage to a couch.

However, his Dumb and even dumber The routine was well-liked: Eagle-eyed Swifties were quick to notice that Kelce was deviating from the usual choreography to show off his dance moves.

In the same conversation, Kelce revealed that making an appearance on the Eras tour was his idea, although he initially meant it as a joke.

“I thought, ‘It would be funny if I rode one of the bikes during the 1989 “What era?” he recalls. “She started laughing and said, ‘Would you really be up for doing something like that?’ And I said, ‘What?! I’d love to do that. I’ve seen enough of the show, I might as well get to work here.’”

In the end, Kelce’s biker moment wasn’t planned. “She found the perfect moment in the show for me to come in. There was no bike in case I hit someone else or one of the dancers or anything,” he explained. “It was the safest option.”

The NFL star went on to say it was “an honor” to be on stage with Swift and her team, giving a special shout-out to dancer Kameron Saunders, the brother of his former Chiefs teammate Khalen Saunders. While Kelce said there weren’t too many nerves surrounding his Eras Tour debut — “You can’t do no wrong when Taylor’s on stage” — he admitted the “one thing” that gave him pause.

“Look, the only thing I said to myself was, ‘Don’t drop the baby. Don’t drop that, don’t drop Taylor on the damn couch,'” he recalled. “The golden rule was, ‘Don’t drop Taylor on the couch.’

Fortunately, the mantra worked and Kelce’s appearance went off without a hitch. “I didn’t disappoint Taylor,” he said. “So that’s all that really matters.”

Swift was quick to express her joy following their moment on stage, celebrating Kelce with a social media post the following day.

“Still laughing/swooning over @killatrav’s Eras Tour debut 🥰,” she wrote on Instagram, adding that she would “never” forget the London shows. The singer performed three nights in June at Wembley Stadium and will return for five more shows in August to close out the European leg of her tour.
