Woman caught depositing stolen checks in Anderson County.

ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – A woman was arrested at an Anderson County bank after allegedly attempting to deposit checks that had been reported stolen.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office was called Saturday to respond to a counterfeiting operation at a bank on South Main Street. Officers were told that Brandy Swindler, 39, of Anderson County, was attempting to deposit two fraudulent checks into the bank.

Authorities said the scammer had been charged with financial crimes before. The suspect was able to collect thousands of dollars by using stolen checks and making them out to her before depositing them, according to agents.

Officers arrived on scene and made contact with Swindler. After a search, authorities located a stolen checkbook and four stolen credit cards.

The sheriff’s office charged Swindler with six counts of credit card forgery and theft.

She remains in custody at the Anderson County Detention Center, deputies said.
