Prince Harry sends Royal Family ‘symbolic message’ after important event

Prince Harry sent the Royal Family a “symbolic message” after an important event, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex made a significant personal change on the same date that he vacated Frogmore Cottage, a five-bedroom property that Harry and his wife Meghan left a year ago.

On June 29, 2023, the couple vacated the Grade-II listed property in the grounds of Windsor Castle in Berkshire, which still remains vacant.

The day proved to be of double significance to the prince, who declared the United States to be his usual place of residence starting from the exact moment he left Frogmore.

Royal commentator Esther Krakue said that by choosing June 29 to be the day he officially called the US his home, Harry was trying to “send a message”.

Speaking to Sky News Australia, she said: “It’s very interesting that Prince Harry chose to date his official US residency on the day he was kicked out of Frogmore Cottage.”

“I think he was trying to send a message and it was very symbolic and I think the biggest message here is that it represents everything that could have been and is not and has been lost. Potentially it represents what actually should never have been.”

The royal residence was the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s base in England but King Charles requested that the couple vacate the property last year, just days after the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare.

The move was particularly poignant as the Sussexes no longer have a residence in the UK.

The Duke and Duchess now live in California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, after they quit life as working royals in 2020.

Opening up about the stately home in his memoir Spare, Harry wrote: “Once upon a time, this was going to be my forever home. Instead, it had proved to be just another brief stop.”

Harry’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, gave Harry and Meghan Frogmore Cottage as a wedding gift in 2018 but when Harry’s father, King Charles, became the reigning monarch he evicted the pair.

In his book he also spoke about how much they both loved the property. Harry said: “We loved that place. From the first minute. It felt as if we were destined to live there.”

The Grade-II listed building is now at the centre of a Royal Family feud between the Duke of York and King Charles.

Prince Andrew has reportedly been asked by the monarch to move out of his current Royal Lodge residence and downsize to Frogmore Cottage.

The Duke of York has so far refused with the brothers currently unable to come to an agreement.

King Charles currently funds Andrew’s £3million a year security bill, as the Home Office removed his police detail once he stepped down from official duties in 2019.
