CSCAA Announces Scholar All-America Awards

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia – The West Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the 2023-24 season, while four Mountaineers have been honored as individual Scholar All-Americans.

First-year student Owen Recker (second team), sophomore Abigail Sullivan (first team), junior Sarah Krusinski (second team) and senior Sara Haggerty (second team) represented WVU. Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team for the fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters.

To be eligible for this recognition, teams must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 during the semester.

To qualify for the first team, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have competed at the national championship. To qualify for the second team, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have achieved the “B” time standard for the national championship or have qualified for a diving zone qualifying meet.

Sullivan qualified for the 2024 Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships after placing fifth in the platform event (465.45) at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships. She became the first WVU diver to qualify for the NCAA Championships in any event since 1984.

Recker, Krusinski and Haggerty competed in the 2024 Area A Diving Championships March 11-13 in Princeton, New Jersey.
