Guaranteed Rainbow Sighting in Alexandria, Virginia New York design studio SOFTlab’s new public art installation for the city of Alexandria is a semicircle of mirrored pieces with a monochrome exterior and a rainbow-colored interior. At 25 feet in diameter and about 8 feet tall, the work is large enough for passersby to walk inside and interact with it. When the LED lights embedded in the structure hear a sound, they light up, making the outward-facing panels momentarily transparent. See it for yourself in November. alexandria.gov/publicart
