Galena Police Department Announces New Police Chief | KSNF/KODE

GALENA, Kan. — Galena has found a new police chief, and he’s no stranger to the department.

Noble Dobkins will be the new police chief of the Galena Police Department.

For the past 10 years, he has worked for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, after serving part-time with the Columbus and Galena police departments.

Dobkins says current police chief Billy Charles had a huge influence on his career and actually helped launch his career.

He adds that his up-to-date experience has prepared him for what awaits him in his new role.

“Through my experience, I’ve learned to be a very people person and I’m really excited to start this position. I’m a people person and I really enjoy helping the public and I want to help the citizens of Galena,” said Noble Dobkins, Galena’s incoming police chief.

Charles will remain police chief until September 1, when he will retire after nearly 30 years of service.
