Leanne shocked by Toyah’s U-turn in Coronation Street cult recruitment

Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) will be shocked in upcoming Coronation Street scenes when her sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor) makes an unexpected U-turn about the Institute.

Leanne fell into the clutches of the sinister cult earlier this year after being charmed by Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper), and Toyah was quick to spot the red flags Leanne had missed.

Leanne spent a lot of money on sessions with the Institute and ended up revealing all of her deepest, darkest secrets to Rowan.

Toyah was seriously worried that Rowan was taking advantage of Leanne’s vulnerability and warned him that she would get to the bottom of what he was really up to.

Clearly threatened, the Institute attempted to sue Toyah when she spoke out publicly against them.

Toyah’s views towards the Institute caused tension between her and Leanne, particularly when Leanne was not present after Toyah spoke out about her stillbirth.

When Toyah was later arrested for her baby’s murder, she ended up accusing Leanne of ratting her out.

Despite their differences over the past few months, Leanne agrees to stay home and care for Toyah, after her visit to the hospital.

However, she finds herself in a dilemma when Rowan asks her to attend a taster session for new recruits.

Leanne is torn, but in a shocking turn of events, Toyah agrees to attend the session with her.

As the sisters head to the Chariot Square Hotel together for the session, is Toyah starting to fall in love with the Institute – or does she have a plan?

Actor Emrhys Cooper has revealed that Rowan is “suspicious” about Toyah’s next moves.

“There have been many heated arguments between them already and he is used to people being wary of the Institute. He is used to family members, so that is a great advantage for him.”
