Biden interviewer: President showed no ‘signs of a man ready to throw in the towel’

A new interview is set to air on July 4 in which President Joe Biden acknowledges he “made a mistake” during last week’s debate, and the interviewer told CNN on Wednesday that the 81-year-old shows no signs of stopping.

Wisconsin radio host Earl Ingram interviewed the president on his show Wednesday. In a clip of the interview aired by CNN, Biden admitted to “having a bad night.”

“And the fact is, you know, it was… I made a mistake. I made a mistake.”

But Biden maintained it only lasted 90 minutes.

“Look what I’ve done in 3.5 years,” he said.

Ingram, speaking from Milwaukee, was asked by the CNN host Wednesday whether he thought Biden was fit to continue.

“I think that’s a decision that will clearly have to be made by himself, his family and those who know him best in the political arena,” Ingram said.

That being said, Biden seemed to be moving full steam ahead.

“He certainly didn’t show me the signs of a guy who’s ready to throw in the towel,” Ingram added. “He was combative like he’s been over the last year. He’s not a guy who’s ready to throw in the towel.”

Ingram said most of his show’s listeners are die-hard Biden fans who agree with the president and want to leave the ticket unchanged.

“They think it’s too late, they think it’s a mistake. They’re so concerned about Donald Trump that they want the focus to be on him.”

Ingram said he disagreed with the listeners and welcomed a conversation about Biden’s candidacy.

“It’s part of the political system. To say that there are things that you can’t talk about when you’re talking about who will be the most powerful person in the world, that doesn’t make any sense to me,” he said.
