Several apartment buildings went up in flames Wednesday afternoon in the second major blaze of the day, just blocks from the Las Vegas Strip.

The Park 80 apartments at 4480 Sirius Ave. caught fire shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities have not yet released the cause of the fire.

A fire official on scene said the initial call began with a two-alarm fire.

According to a Clark County news release, it was quickly determined that the entire building had been evacuated and no rescues had been made.

The fire affected the entire roof and all 12 units in the building suffered significant damage, the statement said.

One patient was treated on site by the Red Cross but was not taken to hospital.

Dozens of firefighters from the Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Fire and Rescue were seen helping to put out the blaze, with crews sometimes entering buildings to help stop the fire. At least six fire trucks were seen responding and shooting water onto the roofs of the buildings.

Fire investigators remain on scene as crews continue to extinguish hot spots over the next several hours, the release said.

The fire remains under investigation.
