Uzbekistan and Pakistan consider developing strategic partnership

AKIPRESS.COM – President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif during a visit to Astana.

The parties discussed issues of further developing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, primarily in the trade, economic, investment, transport, and communications spheres.

They noted the development of active contacts at different levels, and stressed that the volume of mutual trade, cargo transportation, and joint ventures is growing.

The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of continuing work to create favorable conditions for increasing trade turnover within the framework of the Preferential Trade Agreement.

It was noted that adopting a joint Industrial Cooperation Program for 2025-2026, which provides for the implementation of projects in agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and other industries, is important.

An agreement was reached to hold the Intergovernmental Commission’s next meeting, a business forum, and an industrial exhibition this year.

The importance of joint efforts in practically promoting the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project was emphasized.

Views were also exchanged on regional agenda issues.
