Horizon Zero Dawn Series Quietly Canceled By Netflix, Report Says

According to a report, the Horizon Zero DawnThe Netflix series inspired by the TV series may have ended before it even had a chance to begin. You say that’s not true?

We first heard about Netflix’s adaptation of a series inspired by the Guerrilla Games franchise in May 2022, and news of Horizon was confirmed the following month. News of the Horizon Netflix series was also announced alongside a God of War adaptation coming to Amazon Prime Video, confirming a double whammy for Sony PlayStation.

The Horizon series would be the latest in a long line of Netflix series inspired by video games following in the footsteps of Castlevania, Tekken: Bloodline And Dragon Age: Absolution to name a few with a Tomb Raider series starring Hayley Atwell on the way later this year.

Yet, besides knowing that there will be a series inspired by Horizon Zero Dawn On Netflix, almost nothing is known about the adaptation. We don’t know its full working title or the exact story it will tell, but it seems that these details ultimately don’t matter.

According to Rolling Stone’s Cheyenne Roundtree, it has been reported that the Netflix series Horizon may have been canceled. “Rolling Stone has learned that two of the”Umbrella Academy‘showrunner Steve Blackman’s projects that were in development at Netflix, a Horizon Zero Dawn series and an original series, Orbitalare no longer moving forward,” Roundtree tweeted.

The Netflix series’ announced cancellation follows an investigation by Roundtree into allegations of bullying and toxic workplace behavior against showrunner Steve Blackman.

As of now, neither Sony nor Netflix have confirmed that Horizon has been canceled. If I were to be a wishful thinker, I would hope that the worst-case scenario would be that it would be put on hold until a new showrunner is found.
