Douglas Cancelled: Hugh Bonneville Plays Shameful News Anchor

Cancel culture “is crying out to be pinned on TV,” Carol Midgley wrote in the Times. “Now Steven Moffat has done it with ITV’s Douglas Is Cancelled, a scathing satire about sexism, hypocrisy, manufactured outrage and stellar careers toppled by a single tweet.”

Hugh Bonneville plays Douglas, a “national TV presenter and uncle” who gets drunk at a family wedding and is overheard making a “sexist joke”. Someone tweets about it, and then “shit breaks out”.
