I am once again calling on MLB to stop making disgusting All-Star jerseys and let players wear their regular uniforms during the game.

Look what they took from us! Look how beautiful our game was! Back in my day, the MLB All-Stars wore their own uniforms with an All-Star patch on their jersey. It didn’t fit, but it was a beautiful mess. You had the classic uniforms, the Yankees pinstripes, the Cubs home uniforms, the Dodgers uniforms, the Orioles uniforms from the 90s, it was glorious. Then Covid happened and MLB realized they could make a lot of money by having the All-Stars wear special uniforms that tied to the city where the game was played.

It’s a money grab for all the companies involved and I get it, they’re in it to make money. But it sucks. There was something amazing about watching an All-Star game and seeing Miguel Cabrera in his Tigers jersey, Evan Longoria in his Rays jersey, Big Papi in his Sox uniform, Pujols in his Cardinals jersey, Ty Wiggingon in an O’s jersey. It made the game look awesome. 2021 was the first year they cut the boys of summer from wearing their own team uniforms and it’s been a downward spiral ever since.

In 2021 he was moved from Atlanta to Colorado and we hosted them at the All-Star Game.

Why? Why were these shoes necessary, if not for the sole purpose of making money for Nike? They are good, they look good. But they will never be as good as the ones we once had.

2022 in Los Angeles has been a pretty crappy year. Yuck.

Last year in Seattle, it was the best of the three, still pretty good. I don’t like their path of taking such a traditional, fun, recognizable look from a classic event like the MLB All-Star Game. It doesn’t have to be all digital camo, all dark blue, black, and white. This isn’t high school football anymore, it reminded me of when ADIDAS used to make those weird NCAA basketball uniforms for Kansas, UCLA, and all those other schools. Just leave the classic uniforms alone. They should wear these special jerseys in practice, before the game, in the Home Run Derby, all that kind of stuff. But once the game starts, let’s look at the classic cuts.

Which brings us to what baseball’s best players will be wearing on July 16 in the heart of Texas…

What the hell? You want to go with a western theme, I guess, because you’re in Texas, just the letters scream “western” to me. The colors? Are they retro Rangers colors? Are they random? Why do the American League jerseys look like they’ve been left in the back window in direct sunlight for months? What is that? It doesn’t go with the blue and red at all. If you did that weird brown part in white, it would be a great look. But these look bad, really bad. The National League ones are actually nice, I like them 10 times more than the American League version. If you’re not wearing your normal, standard home or away uniform, then I’m totally fine with these. At least they look good. The American League isn’t so much, another nasty piece of work from Nike. Not a great showing from Nike and its short history of making baseball uniforms.

Just bring it back. Let us old folks try this classic look, it’s so much cleaner. It’s perfect for summer. Nothing says American like hot dogs, hamburgers, booze, fireworks, and MLB All-Stars sporting their home or away jerseys during the game.

This doesn’t seem like a difficult decision to make at all!
