Wasta Volunteer Fire Department to Build New Fire Station and Community Hall

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – The Wasta Volunteer Fire Department celebrated more than just the 4th of July today, they also celebrated raising enough money to build a new fire station.

Donations came from individuals in the community and the Pennington County Commissioner’s Office, which donated $500,000.

Wasta Fire Chief Kyle Schell says small communities like this take care of each other.

“You know, in small communities like Wasta, everyone seems to take care of each other,” Schell said.

Construction of the new fire station and community hall will begin this month.
