Arne Slot sent message from Mikel Arteta with Jurgen Klopp’s admission

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has welcomed Arne Slot into the Premier League fray as he prepares for his inaugural season in charge of Liverpool.

Slot took on the role of Reds head coach earlier this year, taking the reins from Jurgen Klopp at Anfield and is expected to lead the team during pre-season training later this month.

Last season, Liverpool won the Carabao Cup and secured third place in the Premier League table, five points behind the second-placed Gunners. With Slot’s leadership, the Reds are aiming for a top-level performance in the coming season.

The pre-season schedule pits Liverpool against Arsenal in the United States, with another Premier League clash scheduled for October at the Emirates Stadium. Arteta, who is currently overseeing Arsenal’s pre-season in Marbella, shared his thoughts on Slot’s appointment with ESPN.

“I don’t know,” he said, when asked if he expected changes at Liverpool under Slot. “That’s a question for him and the people who decided to come here. Welcome to the Premier League. I think he’s an exceptional manager.”

With Slot’s arrival, it also marks the end of the Klopp era on the Liverpool bench, a change that Arteta believes will be felt across the league.

Arteta said: “Obviously it’s a little bit sad to see Jurgen go because what he brought to the league, I think, is something that’s unheard of with his charisma, the way he played and the moments he created in this league.”
