Is Kill Inspired by Real Incidents? Director Reveals

Kill finally released in Indian theatres today after its international success. It was critically acclaimed at the Toronto International Film Festival and was later picked up for an English remake by Lionsgate and 87Eleven, directed by Chad Stahelski.

The director of this melee action film shot on a train recently shared the inspiration behind the film. Nikhil Bhat’s ultra-violent film Kill is based on a chilling incident! When Nikhil Bhat was still a young student, he was travelling from Patna to Pune and on the way, a horrific robbery took place. Many people were injured, there was bloodshed and people were traumatised on the train. Bhat recalls waking up to a horrific scene. The train was surrounded by the police and people around him were stunned. He didn’t witness the violence firsthand, but being on the train left a deep impression on him.

He had this incident in mind while shooting for the film. Isn’t it great to reimagine a gruesome train robbery in an action-packed thriller? The film stars new faces like Lakshya, Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala in the lead roles. It releases today and we are yet to see its box office performance. But one thing is for sure, if the action hero of this film was on the train that director Bhat travelled in years ago, the villains would have had a really miserable fate.
