Nearly 1 Million Hatch Baby Sound Generator Power Adapters Recalled Due to Electric Shock Hazard

A popular parenting device brand is voluntarily recalling nearly one million sleep machine power adapters due to potential electrical shock hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Wednesday that Hatch Baby is recalling adapters sold with its Rest 1st Generation sound machines. The recall affects 919,400 adapters sold in the United States, as well as 44,352 sold in Canada between January 2019 and May 2024.

Hatch said it has received 19 reports of the adapter’s plastic casing being disassembled, including two reports of people experiencing “minor electrical shock.” The recalled white rectangular adapters will have the model number CYAP05 050100U printed on the back near the pins, along with the words “Jiangsu Chenyang Electron Co. LTD” and “Made in China.”

Consumers in possession of the recalled adapters are urged to immediately stop using them and contact Hatch for a free replacement. To do so, simply unplug the recalled adapter, cut the cord, and email a photo of the destroyed adapter to [email protected] along with your name and mailing address.

The company said that once consumers receive a replacement adapter, their 1st generation Rest audio machines can continue to be safely used.
