Israeli Army Announces Death of Major (Res.) Itay Galea on Border with Lebanon

Major (Res) Itay Galea, 38, from Ramat Gan, and deputy company commander in the 8679th unit of the 679th Brigade, was killed in northern Israel.

Galea was due to begin operations in the north the following week. He and another soldier arrived at Camp Jordan in the Golan Heights as an advance force, and the tank they were in was hit by an anti-tank missile, Army Radio reported..

On Thursday, Hezbollah carried out some of the most intense rocket attacks since the start of the war.

Hezbollah claims to have fired more than 200 rockets and 20 drones at northern Israel, the Galilee and the Golan Heights. The cities of Acre and Nahariya were hit.

The dam was a response to the assassination of the Hezbollah commander

Fires broke out following the attack and several injuries were reported, including at least two women who suffered minor injuries.

The attack came in response to Israel’s assassination on Wednesday of Muhammad Neaman Naser, a Hezbollah commander in the Aziz unit on Hezbollah’s southern front.

He was considered one of the two highest-ranking commanders killed so far in this war.
