Marta Kostyuk’s Wimbledon Look Inspired by Her Wedding Dress

Marta Kostyuk’s bridal era continues at Wimbledon.

For this year’s tournament, the Ukrainian professional tennis player is wearing a Wilson look inspired by her wedding dress, which the brand created for her November 2023 nuptials with partner Heorhii.

The piece, which features a plunging V-neckline and a cut-out back, was first seen on Kostyuk, 22, at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Monday during her first-round win over the Slovakian
Rebecca Šramková.

Kostyuk, ranked 18th in the world, also wore the style Thursday in her second-round win over Australia’s Daria Saville.

“I think after Wimbledon I’ll put this dress in a frame and hang it on the wall somewhere. It’ll definitely be one of the highlights of my life and career. I mean, what more can you ask for?” Kostyuk said, according to Wilson’s Instagram page.

Currently available on Wilson.com, the “Marta Dress” also features a button-detail overlay, a touch taken from her big day last fall.

“The original plan was to have a long, pretty simple dress, but as we were doing the fittings, we decided it would be cool to have two dresses: one just for the ceremony and another for the after-party, for dinner, something easier, more comfortable,” Kostyuk recently told Vogue of the wedding dress design process with Joelle Michaeloff, who is Wilson’s head of design.

“So we agreed that the formal dress would be long and covered in flowers, but still a little transparent, and that the second dress would be the same underdress, but with a simple, short, transparent white formal dress.”

Michaeloff, who called the piece “one of the most technical wedding dresses ever made,” told Vogue about Kostyuk’s Wimbledon look.

“We kept the layered mini dress, which buttons up,” she said. “She’ll come out with all the layers, and then she’ll take off this layered dress, which is exactly like the wedding dress in that it has five buttons down the front; I made her a quick-release option so she can take it off quickly. What’s underneath is basically the original dress, but with shorts built into it.”

Kostyuk, seeded 18th, will next face American Madison Keys, seeded 12th, in the third round on Friday.
