American presenter and comedian Ellen DeGeneres has cancelled four dates of her stand-up comedy tour.

“Unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event,” a note on Ticketmaster’s website reads, citing shows in Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago as those affected.

It’s unclear why these dates were canceled, as other dates in those cities are still scheduled. The tour is currently scheduled to run through August 17.

It marks her return to the spotlight two years after Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show was canceled after employees accused executive producers of complaining about a “toxic workplace.”

“I was kicked out of show business”

In April, she opened the first night of Ellen’s Last Stand… Up Tour by declaring, “I didn’t care what anyone thought of me, and I realized… I said that at the height of my popularity.”

DeGeneres told the Los Angeles audience that she has done a lot of gardening since the show ended and collects chickens as pets – adding that as a former talk show host, she enjoys the pressure of having to lay an egg every day.

“What else can I tell you?” she added.

“Oh yeah, I got fired from show business. There are no bad guys in show business.”

The stand-up show will air on Netflix, which aired his previous stand-up show, Relatable, in 2018.

DeGeneres’ television career began with her popular sitcom Ellen in 1994, in which she played the owner of a bookstore.

During her opening concert, she referenced the cancellation of her talk show after she came out as gay.

“For those of you who follow the account, this is the second time I’ve been kicked out of show business… Eventually, they’re going to kick me out a third time because I’m mean, old and gay,” she said.

Legend, DeGeneres won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the episode “The Puppy” of her sitcom Ellen.

She also said that having been in public for so long, the withdrawal she experienced “had such an impact on my ego and my self-esteem.”

“There are such extremes in this business: either people love you and idolize you or they hate you, and those people are sort of louder,” she added.

The BBC has contacted DeGeneres’ representatives for comment.
