Umesh Dahal dies of injuries while trying to stop fight at concert in Nepal

Nashville, Tennessee – Umesh Dahal, 41, was attending a concert by Nepalese band Mantra on the lower level of Topgolf when an argument broke out inside, forcing people to leave and go to the parking lot, police said.

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Dahal was trying to break up the fight when he was punched, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete. The attacker did not stop and kicked Dahal in the head as he lay on the ground, beaten.

Dahal, who was trying to do a good deed, was rushed to hospital after being punched, but after struggling with his injuries, the father of two young girls succumbed on July 2.

Police identified Bishal Rai, 26, as the man who kicked Dahal while he was on the ground. With Dahal’s death, the charges were amended to criminal homicide from simple aggravated assault. Police are also looking into who else was involved.

The Daily Mail reported that Umesh was married to Damanta Kafley Dahal, 44, from Jhapa in Nepal.
