BGT star Amanda Holden’s mission is to ‘shock’ and stay sexy at 53

Amanda Holden is back on our screens as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, which resumed on ITV on Saturday 20 April. In promotional images for the latest series, Amanda looked utterly glamorous, as she showed off her fabulous figure in a plunging red latex dress and strappy shoes – and her striking look on the launch show was just as eye-catching.

The 53-year-old TV star looks like a woman half her age, and her choice of daring outfits has undoubtedly inspired women across the country to be bolder when it comes to their own fashion looks, regardless of their age.

And a source said ALL RIGHT! that Amanda plans to make a splash with this series.

“When it comes to the BGT live shows, Amanda is planning to go all out and wear some of her most revealing outfits to date. It’s the time of year when she’s constantly paying attention to herself, her body and what she wears and she’s loving it.

“When she first started on the show she was much more conservative and didn’t want to offend anyone, but over the years she has gained confidence and is determined to show off her incredible figure. She has never believed in the ‘less is more’ approach or subtlety and always goes too far.”

They added: “She’s had her stylist make her some daring dresses and outfits that will have viewers groaning and she can’t wait! Naturally, Amanda works hard to maintain her sensational figure, running two to three miles a week in addition to practicing Kundalini yoga and a Viking-inspired workout routine. But she doesn’t hold back when it comes to her diet, as she told The Times last year: “I’m not a slave to a beauty regime or a fitness regime because I love food too much. I eat cheese and butter and I love a drink.”

Amanda, who has daughters Lexi, 18 – now a successful model in her own right – and Hollie, 12, with husband Chris Hughes, added that she would continue to “flaunt” what God has given her, insisting she would never “fade into the background” like women of her grandmother’s generation.

Additionally, the source told OK! that the star has no plans to change either: “Amanda sees herself as a role model for older women, especially moms, and how you can still be sexy after a certain age.

“She’s never felt better, so why should she start covering up or dressing differently just because she’s past a certain age? On the contrary, her outfits have become more revealing and sexier as she gets older and she has no intention of stopping. If it shocks or upsets people, then she doesn’t care. She works hard for her body, so why should she hide it.”

They also added that Amanda also wants to be a role model for her daughters. “Amanda wants her daughters to look up to her and prove to her that you don’t have to follow certain rules, and that they can be who they want to be in life. She instilled confidence in them from a young age and she practices what she preaches.”

The cheeky mum-of-two isn’t afraid to show off her body. She’s been known to post a selection of stunning bikini snaps online. Earlier this month, she took it a step further by stripping down to the nude in the Heart FM studio while taking part in a life drawing class.

In a video posted to Heart FM’s Instagram page, Amanda is seen removing her trousers to reveal her bare bottom, while co-host Jamie Theakston told listeners: “What’s a bit awkward is Amanda is in the corner of the studio with no clothes on. It’s a first, not for her of course, but certainly for most of us.”

He then shared that the Heart team had drawn Amanda – and his fans couldn’t get enough, as they rushed to comment, with one writing: “If you got it, show it. Go girl,” while a second gushed: “@noholdenback looks absolutely amazing – and always has. What a great figure.”

But Amanda doesn’t always get positive feedback, as her often daring outfits, including on Britain’s Got Talent, have sometimes attracted criticism. In 2020, the presenter attracted 235 complaints to Ofcom after wearing a navy dress with plunging slits.

In 2023, it was a skintight latex dress that sparked more complaints to Ofcom, but Amanda later hit back by ignoring the criticism, saying she was “not losing sleep over it”.

Speaking about the Ofcom complaints, Amanda told Tyla: “I dress for myself and I’ve always dressed for myself and I really love fashion and it suits me, that’s all I’ll say.

“I never lose sleep over it and I never set out to offend anyone. But I think these days you can’t not offend – there’s no way to win. So you have to stay true to yourself and wear what you want.”

It really does seem like Amanda can do it all, with her role as a judge on BGT and her radio show on Heart FM. But most of all, Amanda is wife of 16 years to Chris Hughes and a doting mum to their two daughters, Alexa, 18, and Hollie, 12 – and she’s clearly determined to be the best role model she can be for her growing girls.

Amanda has recently been in the headlines for other reasons, having been embroiled in a highly publicised ‘feud’ with former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne. The row came after Amanda branded Sharon and Louis Walsh ‘bitter and pathetic’ in an interview after they discussed Simon Cowell on Celebrity Big Brother.

In a conversation with the Daily Mail, Amanda said: “I hated seeing some people on a reality TV show badmouthing Simon – he’s the person who gave them every opportunity, gave them lots of money and a lifestyle they probably wouldn’t have had.

“It’s bitter and pathetic. It was like Cinderella with her two sisters in the background – just stabbing, stabbing, stabbing.”

But Sharon – who previously worked with Simon on projects including The X Factor – gave her side of the story in a fiery statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) and branded Amanda “rude and classless”.

But the row doesn’t seem to have fazed Amanda. She’s back and strutting her stuff on one of the biggest shows on TV – and she’s looking better than ever.
