Samsung fans have been warned that their beloved Galaxy smartphone will no longer receive free upgrades – three alternatives to consider

A popular budget Samsung smartphone will no longer receive updates, which could mean problems for current owners.

Updates not only provide users with exciting new features, but also security fixes that prevent criminals from exploiting any vulnerabilities they discover.

Companies usually commit to providing free updates for a certain number of years until the phone becomes sufficiently obsolete.

Samsung’s latest phones come with seven years of free feature and security updates.

But unfortunately, that’s the end of the line for a phone.

Affected users should consider upgrading to a completely new smartphone to avoid any possible issues that may arise in the future.

The model in question is the Galaxy A21s.

It was launched in May 2020 with Android 10 (One UI 2.0), when Samsung committed to offering two new versions of Android and security updates for four years on the smartphone.

Since then, it has indeed received Android 11 (One UI 3.0) in 2021 and Android 12 (One UI 4.1) in 2022.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy A21s has been removed from the list of Samsung devices still receiving security updates in the future.

Samsung may well release critical security updates if something major happens.

But ultimately, the Galaxy A21s is more vulnerable to attacks than before.

Alternatives to Galaxy A21s

The Galaxy A21s was one of Samsung’s cheapest smartphones.

If you’re looking to upgrade to something in a similar price range, you might consider the Galaxy A25.

It features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a bezel-less design and an impressive screen-to-body ratio.

One of its highlights is its huge 5,000mAh battery, which lasts for two days, bigger than an iPhone.

For something a little more mid-range, you might consider the Galaxy A35 or Galaxy A55.
