RCMP seek suspect in voyeurism at Surrey public washroom

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call Surrey RCMP.

Police are hoping the public can help identify a man caught filming a woman in the toilet of a Surrey home.

On March 11 at 2:10 p.m., Surrey RCMP were called to an educational institution in the 13400 block of 102nd Avenue for a report of a man filming a woman in a bathroom stall.

When the police arrived, the suspect had already fled.

The incident happened on the campus of Simon Fraser University in Surrey.

Corporal Sarbjit K. Sangha said police needed help in identifying the man suspected of voyeurism.

“Investigators have obtained CCTV footage of the alleged suspect, but despite investigative efforts, he has not yet been identified,” Sangha said in a July 4 statement.

The suspect is described as an Asian man in his 20s, of medium build, with short black hair and no beard. An image released by police shows him wearing a jacket with a shoulder bag and sweatpants.

SFU director of media relations Michael Russell said the university is working with the RCMP on the incident and continues to respond to all needs as it is an ongoing investigation.

“The university has not received any other reports of similar incidents since that date,” Russell said.

SFU has a campus public safety staff that provides 24-hour public safety and resource protection services to the university community.

If you recognize the suspect, you are asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2024-34550.
