Nag Ashwin Breaks Silence On Kalki 2898 AD Comparison With Mad Max: ‘As Soon As You…’

Nag Ashwin talks about the comparisons between Kalki 2898 AD and Mad Max.

Nag Ashwin’s much-awaited film Kalki 2898 AD has received a lot of praise from the audience. However, a section of the society also believed that some of the films in the film were copies of several Hollywood films including Mad Max. The filmmaker has finally broken his silence on the matter.

In an interview with Times Now, Nag Ashwin spoke about the comparison between the chase scene of Kalk 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, and Mad Max and said, “It wasn’t a very conscious thing. I really like Mad Max, but I would say that particular chase scene, in some form or the other, was written a while ago. But I think it’s also a context. The moment you put a truck in a desert, it’s going to look like Mad Max.”

When asked if Mad Max was his main vision, the filmmaker replied, “Yes, but it’s really like our production designer has a unique talent. Our cameraman has a unique talent.” He then revealed the reason for the film’s postponement and said, “It was the visual effects. And since there were also multiple languages and formats like 3D, IMAX, etc. I think we were rushing until the last minute to deliver the film to the distributors. And it was like the amount of visual effects, it was very difficult.”

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in pivotal roles. The film also had several guest appearances from stars like Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli and Mrunal Thakur. The dystopian sci-fi film has already collected Rs 700 crore at the worldwide box office and continues its dream run. The filmmaker also revealed that the second part of the film will see more of Kamal Haasan and fans are eager to see it.
