GdS: Milan seek to secure the services of Serbian defender

AC Milan are looking to sign Serbian defender Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg this summer to add more quality depth to the back line.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri are well aware that a new defender is needed and they are keen to sign an established but young player who can develop further within the club.

Pavlovic, 23, was part of Serbia’s Euro 2024 squad and stood out for his physique, measuring 1.94m.

He joined Monaco from Partizan Belgrade for €10 million in 2020, but struggled to progress as expected in the principality. Loans to FC Basel and Cercle Brugge proved very fruitful, however, and he eventually joined RB Salzburg for €7 million.

It was there that he blossomed and became a very important player, who almost joined Lazio in the past, but a failed medical ended his transfer.

Napoli have shown a lot of interest in Pavlovic, as have some Premier League sides, partly because it appears that an offer of €20-25 million will be enough to secure his services. He is thought to be ready to take the next step in his career towards a major league.

Pavlovic could be seen as a replacement for Simon Kjaer who left the club this summer and he would put pressure on the other defenders in the team.
