Donald Trump’s July 4th message sparks anger

Donald Trump’s July 4 social media post has sparked a backlash from critics.

Posting on his social media platform, Truth Social, the former president and presumptive Republican presidential nominee sparked outrage after lashing out at his political enemies in a lengthy message commemorating the annual affirmation of the Declaration of Independence, signed 238 years ago.

Trump criticized President Joe Biden for his performance in the first presidential debate, his Vice President Kamala Harris and the multiple legal cases against him.

He wrote: “Happy 4th of July to all, including our highly inept “President” who is using prosecutors to prosecute his political opponent, who choked like a dog during the debate but tried to claim it was an “international trip” (only 12 days off!) and after the trip was over, blamed it on a “cold.” So why would anyone say he has cognitive issues? Also, a shout out to our potential new Democratic challenger, Laffin’ Kamala Harris. She had a bad run in the Democratic nomination process, starting at number two, and eventually getting beat and dropping out, before she even got to Iowa, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a “very talented” politician! Just ask her mentor, the great Willie Brown of San Francisco.” Someone else I have to compliment is a deranged Biden prosecutor named Jack Smith, who has become a legend in his own mind for all the cases he has lost. The corrupt prosecutors work hard for Crooked Joe, but it will never be enough – MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

In response, the campaign group Republicans Against Trump wrote: “Trump, a convicted felon, just posted his July 4th message. This man is completely and utterly deranged beyond words.”

Robert Reich, former U.S. Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton, said: “That’s the message Donald Trump sent to the nation on July 4. He made it clear that if he returns to the White House, every moment of his presidency will be about revenge.”

Another X user wrote: “He’s literally your drunk uncle on vacation who has never won a popular vote or achieved anything in his life. He has LITERALLY failed at everything he’s tried outside of being a cult leader.”

Trump did receive some support, however. A Florida Republican shared the post on X and wrote: “This is it. The best ever. Period.”

In response to the criticism, Trump’s communications director Steven Cheung said: Newsweek: “These out-of-touch liberals and anti-Trumpers continue to suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome, even on Independence Day. Their existence is SAD!”

Biden also celebrated the occasion. On Instagram and X, the president said: “Happy Independence Day, America! God bless you all. And God protect our troops.”

Elsewhere, Biden welcomed families to the White House on July 4 as part of annual festivities.
