Chelsea have offered a seven-year contract to top transfer target Enzo Maresca

Chelsea are reportedly looking to make a big move in the transfer market this summer in order to give their new manager the best possible backing.

Enzo Maresca is preparing for his first campaign as a Premier League manager, and an opening game against Manchester City will be the biggest possible test for the Italian.

He hopes to have a number of new names on the list by then. This week the club announced the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after his spell at Leicester City.

It has been reported that a striker is high on the club’s list of additions, with a number of names circulating as a potential target.

One of the players who has emerged is Samu Omorodion of Atletico Madrid, who enjoyed a successful loan spell last season.

Chelsea offer contract to Samu Omorodion

Journalist Nicolo Schira has now claimed that the Blues have offered a long-term contract to the young striker, who is currently Maresca’s top target.

He said on Twitter: “Chelsea have offered Samu Omorodion (born 2004) a contract until 2031 with a salary of €2.5m/year + bonuses for the first season which will increase to €6m/year last season (2030/31). He remains Maresca’s main target as the new Chelsea striker.”

The focus seems to have shifted away from big name additions to a new striker.

Chelsea have yet to make an offer for Victor Osimhen

Throughout last season, the name that came up most often was Victor Osimhen, but it seems they decided the financial side of this deal wasn’t worth exploring further.

Another name that was at the forefront of their thinking was Benjamin Sesko, but he has now committed his future to RB Leipzig for the time being.

Any addition will have to compete with Nicolas Jackson for game time, with the Senegal international enjoying a solid first season as a Premier League player.
